
Katie Mongeau
Articling Student
Katie is an articling student at Edelson Foord law. She received her J.D. from the University of Ottawa Law School, and graduated cum laude in 2025.
During her studies at the University of Ottawa, Katie focused on criminal law and advocacy. Katie was a student caseworker and division leader at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic in the Criminal Division. Katie represented clients facing criminal charges and provincial offences.
Katie is on the board of directors for the Collaborative Justice Program, a restorative justice program based in Ottawa that works with offenders and victims of crime. Katie was a volunteer with the Collaborative Justice Program during her undergraduate studies, and has remained passionate about engaging with restorative justice processes in criminal law.
Prior to attending law school, Katie studied at the University of Ottawa and received her degree in Criminology with a Minor in Law, focusing on both criminal law and international law.
Katie joined the team Edelson Foord Law in 2019 as a Legal Assistant for Michael Edelson. She eventually became the Office Manager for the Firm, and worked in that role throughout law school. Katie also worked as a summer student in 2024. Katie gained valuable experience and insight in the field of criminal law during her time working at Edelson Foord Law before being hired back as an Articling Student. Katie has experience supporting lawyers at the firm in regulatory offences and all matter of criminal offences, including assaults, sexual assaults, drug trafficking, impaired driving, homicide, and criminal appeals.
