Jocelyn Rempel
Associate
Jocelyn is an associate at Edelson Foord Law. She practices criminal, constitutional, and regulatory law. She has appeared at the trial and appellate level as counsel to parties and interveners.
Jocelyn graduated from Queen’s University Faculty of Law in 2020 where she earned the silver medal in both her second and third year. She summered and articled at the criminal appeals office of Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General. After being called to the bar in 2021, she spent a year clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada for the Honourable Justice Michael Moldaver. She began her career as defence counsel at the Addario Law Group LLP in Toronto.
Jocelyn has a particular interest in trial and appellate constitutional litigation. In Toronto, Jocelyn helped build multiple constitutional challenges to “anti-encampment” legislation which prevented unhoused people from erecting shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic and housing
crisis. In Nunavut, she argued a constitutional challenge at the trial and appellate level to mandatory driving prohibitions restricting Inuit sustenance hunters’ right to hunt.
Jocelyn brings compassion, competence, and resourcefulness to every file. She is a staunch defender of civil and human rights. She uses her experience, insight, and creativity to get the best possible results for her clients.
Jocelyn is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa.
